Helping malnourished children and mothers throughout the world
by supporting Friedman student development

June 2015

For the sixth year, Friedman School alumna Georgette Baghdady, N03, spearheaded a fundraising initiative in March in memory of her father.  More than 31 donors helped raise a total of $8,155.  These monetary gifts are supporting three Friedman students this summer as Dr. Elie J. Baghdady Memorial Humanitarian Interns in developing countries.

The Dr. Elie J. Baghdady Memorial Humanitarian Interns for 2015

SARAH E. McCLUNG, N17, is interning in Pakistan with the Empowerment, Voice and Accountability for Better Health and Nutrition Project, which focuses on reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition services.

OLUFUNMILAYO S. IYAMIDE OLUKOSHI, N16, is interning in Burkina Faso with the Renewed Efforts Against Child Hunger and Undernutrition Initiative, which aims to scale up proven and effective interventions addressing child undernutrition.

LESLIE A. WENTWORTH, N16, is interning in México City with the National Institute of Public Health’s obesity prevention program, which includes the regulation of food marketing to children.

We are grateful for the generosity of all who donated, including our alumni and friends.  Their passionate support helps our students develop into the next generation of nutrition leaders that will impact global nutrition and health.  We would especially like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Harry Martin of ID Private Equity, Mr. Edmund Habib, Mr. George C. Kronmiller, Jr., Lila Baghdady and Nalinee Chongviriyaphan for their invaluable support.
