Sunday: The day began with several current Friedman students showing off their research during a student poster session. Next, while enjoying a delicious brunch, the Alumni Association presented the 2008 Alumni Award winners. The event was topped off by a keynote address from Clark Wolf, President & Founder of Clark Wolf Company.

In addition, the 2008 Gershoff Symposium marked the 10th occurrence of this annual gathering of students, researchers and professionals in the nutrition science and policy field. This year's symposium was titled "Complementary and Alternative Nutrition (CAN): Nutrition's Forgotten Child". At the close of the symposium, Dr. Gershoff with the Friedman School had the pleasure and honor of presenting the second annual Stanley N. Gershoff, Simon J. Simonian, Arpi A. Simonian Prize for Research Excellence in Nutrition Science and Policy to Alison Tovar, MS, MPH. This prize was established in 2006 by the generosity of Simon and Arpi Simonian. The purpose of the prize is to honor a Masters or Doctoral student who has excelled in their chosen field of study and who exemplifies the creativity and dedication to the discipline of nutrition of Dr. Stanley Gershoff.
